Save a layout with Independent Page as a Custom Fold Pattern
You can now save a Custom Fold Pattern with a section that includes independent pages. When adding these fold patterns to a Press Run, you will be prompted to set the independent page properties. For more information about fold patterns, see Customizing or creating a custom fold pattern resource. (PREPS-14278)
Define subsections in Custom Fold Patterns
Preps can now define subsections (or ribbons) in Custom Fold Patterns. This means that you can use Preps to create a multi-web layout, save it as a custom fold pattern, and then generate a web press run with the custom fold pattern. For more information, see Sub-sections (ribbons) and Creating a sub-section (ribbon) press with a Custom Fold Pattern. (PREPS-13097)
New Print menu and Preferences for Job Layout Report
You can now set output defaults for layout reports. For more information, see Job Report Preferences. (PREPS-14405)
Remove marks through JDF import process
If you are working with Preps templates that have marks already defined on templates/signatures, you now have the ability to remove all existing marks through the JDF import process. You can then use SmartMarks based on marks rules to replace them. For more information, see the JDF Input section in JDF Preferences. (PREPS-14331)
New shortcut keys for inserting a new web and duplicating an existing web
You can now use shortcut keys to insert new webs and duplicate webs. See Menu shortcuts - Windows OS-based computers and Menu shortcuts - Mac OS. (PREPS-13712)
Disconnect Shingling/Bottling rules from Stock (Substrate) resource property
The Auto Shingling and Bottling rules are now defined in Resources > Shingling and Bottling Rules Editor, rather than being defined as a Stock (Substrate) resource property. This means that you no longer need to define multiple Stock (Substrate) resource properties for this purpose. In the new Shingling and Bottling Rules Editor, you will have all the same abilities defined in the Stock (Substrate) resource, plus additional fields to define a range of the Stock (Substrate) paper weight and caliper. An Auto Shingling and Bottling rule will be triggered when a Stock (Substrate) resource that fits the range is specified. For more information, see Shingling and Bottling Rules Editor. (PREPS-13623)
New Profile switch to allow users to enable AutoShingling
You have two ways to apply the Auto Shingling and Bottling rules: manually (in a Job Layout Details dialog box) or automatically.
To apply the rule automatically, in your Preps profile, set -AUTOSHINGLING
and -AUTOBOTTLING
to YES
. When new jobs are created, the Auto Shingling and Auto Bottling will be automatically set in the Job Layout Details dialog box. The default is NO
, so that you can control the use of Auto Shingling at a job level, as needed. For more information, see Shingling and Bottling Rules Editor and Profiles and preferences. (PREPS-12436)
New mark capability to allow for marks only on the Preps Job Layout Report
You can now edit a SmartMark setting for placing marks on press runs that allows you to restrict the mark to printing only on the Job layout report. The mark will not print on the production layout. For more information, see Common settings for SmartMarks and Printing job layout reports. (PREPS-13078)
New collation marks for Mixed Binding styles
When your production includes signatures made up from different binding styles—for example, you have two perfect bound signatures that are made up from three saddle stitched signatures each–you can now use Mixed Binding collation marks. In the example, the perfect bound signatures are the top level and each will get a signature number for the collation mark. The saddle stitched signatures get the same signature number as the parent and a tic line below indicating its number within the parent signature. For more information, see Collation Mark settings. (PREPS-12540)
Fixed Bugs
PREPS-15127 | A JDF imposition job with 100 plates takes 18 minutes to process on Prinergy. |
PREPS-14727 | A 'centered' placement for a classic imposition is not maintained when the stock is changed. |
PREPS-14708 | When a shingling value is set in an RBA Create Intent action, it is applied only to the layout details in the Preps .job file that is created. When that created intent is imported, the imported imposition parts do not have shingling applied to them. |
PREPS-14577 | The Preps static collation mark feature needs an option to restrict to section. |
PREPS-14519 | MIS JDF import fails with this error: |
PREPS-14290 | Guides no longer show distances between guides or imposition. Only the distance from Press Sheet edges is displayed. |
PREPS-14028 | Support for Stripping Partitioning is needed in Preps |
Known limitations
Print Job Layout Report cannot send a report to a physical printer
Although the Print Job Layout Report feature offers a choice of output types, Preps supports only PDF output. When a user clicks Print, Preps outputs a PDF, but cannot send the file to a physical printer. (PREPS-11855)
Problem with saving a dual web as a custom fold pattern
Preps will not retain the Fold Flip, Fold Rotation, or Bind Edge values in a Custom Fold Pattern. These can be adjusted at the job level with the section and sub-section properties. (PREPS-15075)
Changing the Bind Edge property to a Flip setting results in wrong page numbers
When using a Custom Fold Pattern that has duplicated page numbers, changing the Bind Edge property to a Flip setting (for example, Flip0) results in the wrong page numbers being applied. (PREPS-15171)
Changing a Trim or Lip property results in unexpected page numbering
Preps 5.3 Full For Mac Pc
Opening a JOB/JDF/TPL file that has multiple subsections and then changing a Trim or Lip property will result in unintended changes in the page numbering. (PREPS-15186)
Changing a Trim size setting produces an invalid result
When duplicating a web that includes a Custom Fold Pattern with a section that includes independent pages, changing a Trim size property in a section or subsection will produce an invalid result. (PREPS-15187)
No auto shingling and auto bottling when a user imports JDF to Workshop
If a user sets -AUTOSHINGLING
and -AUTOBOTTLING
to YES
in their Preps profile, their Auto Shingling and Auto Bottling rules should be automatically applied in the Job Layout Details dialog box. However, if the user then launches Preps from Workshop, creates and saves a job that uses the rules, prints to JDF, and then imports the JDF into Workshop, the automatic shingling and bottling operation is not applied (unless the JDF was created in Preps 6). (PREPS-15211)
When using a template, stock on the Part Properties pane is not set according to the actual stock
If a user has created an Auto Shingling rule, has set -AUTOSHINGLING
to YES
in the Preps profile, and has created a template that specifies a stock that meets the Auto Shingling rule, new jobs that use the template should display the actual stock in the Part Properties pane. However, the template shows the default stock. (PREPS-15262)
Auto Shingling should not be selected on the Part Properties pane when using an auto-select template
If -AUTOSHINGLING
is set to YES
in the Preps profile, an Auto Select template is selected, but the stock does not meet any shingling rules, the Part Properties pane should display Custom. However, Auto Shingling is selected and it is applied immediately. (PREPS-15260)
This directory contains binaries for a base distribution and packages to run on Mac OS X (release 10.6 and above). Mac OS 8.6 to 9.2 (and Mac OS X 10.1) are no longer supported but you can find the last supported release of R for these systems (which is R 1.7.1) here. Releases for old Mac OS X systems (through Mac OS X 10.5) and PowerPC Macs can be found in the old directory.
Note: CRAN does not have Mac OS X systems and cannot check these binaries for viruses.Although we take precautions when assembling binaries, please use the normal precautions with downloaded executables.
Package binaries for R versions older than 3.2.0 are only available from the CRAN archive so users of such versions should adjust the CRAN mirror setting (https://cran-archive.r-project.org) accordingly.
R 4.0.3 'Bunny-Wunnies Freak Out' released on 2020/10/10
Please check the MD5 checksum of the downloaded image to ensure that it has not been tampered with or corrupted during the mirroring process. For example type
openssl sha1 R-4.0.3.pkg
in the Terminal application to print the SHA1 checksum for the R-4.0.3.pkg image. On Mac OS X 10.7 and later you can also validate the signature using
pkgutil --check-signature R-4.0.3.pkg
